Cheers To New Beginnings

As many years go by, I recall many fond memories of my dad on New Year’s Eve. It was customary in his family to go in the back door leaving the old behind. Then when it was time to leave, you went out the front door to new and happy beginnings.

Another was my dad would ring a bell at the front door yelling “Happy New Year to one and all,” at midnight.

The funniest of all was the year our mom passed. Dad gave my sisters and I brooms. Sweep away the past year, remember the beautiful memories and go forward. It’s what your mom would want you to do. I thought he just wanted me to clean my house, chuckle, chuckle.

Cheers to my dad and my wonderful mom. Your parents are the ones who start you out in life with beautiful traditions and memories. Then as time goes on, you do your best to keep a few of them and create new ones for your family and friends.

As we get close to New Year, I have looked back over the past year. It’s been one of the most challenging journeys of all. So many have passed away (my wonderful sister), other family members and dear friends. For so long, we have been so blessed to have them in our lives, to call or to get together and celebrate. This year will be different; their memories will go on, especially in our hearts, but an emptiness will always be there.

We have celebrated a new bundle of joy in our family this year, a baby girl — a true angel on earth — also the celebration of a very dear and close friend’s marriage. One of the best days of the year.

Time spent away with my husband to celebrate, just travelling not far — time out to be adventurous.

Family time this past year has been amazing and has made me realize the importance of taking photos.

I am reconnecting with old friends, the joy of social media.

Accomplishments like the joy of writing. NaNoNimo was something I had wanted to do for years, and this year, I completed two stories. Now in the New Year, I look forward to publishing and selling on Amazon.

One of my goals this year is to give kindness to my family, friends, and others who need it. A ride in our city has made me realize how bad it is required by so many — no time for greed. Only love from your heart.

In closing, I look forward to celebrating tomorrow night with my family. Make new traditions and new goals. I have no plans for resolutions; the goal agenda has already started.

In closing, thank you for reading my articles. I wish you good health, happiness and love now and for days to come.

Happy New Years “2023”
